We went to Med Mart to "Look" at mobility scooters. Our experience with Andre Griffin & his expertise, helped us make our decision. We felt very comfortable with him & we liked his tips, he gave us time to discuss & try the scooters out. Andre was very knowledgeable about the Golden Buzzaround, we decided to buy on the spot & brought 2 home. We never owned a scooter, but we have had the amazing time since we brought them home. So pleased with Andre, our scooters, Andre has helped us to get a New Lease on Life.

Thank you Bird & Terrell for delivery and set up of my new chair. I am going in for foot surgery this Monday and I wanted a super comfortable chair to help elevate my foot. Justin was very helpful on the sales floor. He showed me several chairs and went over their features and benefits. Bird and Terrell called my ahead and found my home. They carried the chair inside and set it up. I am very happy with all the folks at MedMart in Evandale.

Affordable Stair Lift Equipment & Installation

If you have mobility issues, installing a stairlift, also known as a stair lift, stair chair, or stairway lift, can be an easy solution to the obvious problem posed by the steps in your home. With our straight stairlift and custom curved stairlift selection, we offer a solution for any staircase. Staying in the home you love is often dependent on finding ways to overcome challenges as they present themselves.

Stairlifts are installed by our factory trained technicians. The rail is bolted directly to the steps, not the wall, to ensure the stair lift is in the safest possible position. With the use of a remote, the seat can be stored at any point along the rail and the seat can be retrieved from wherever it is along the rail.

Getting a stair lift installed is easy! Start by calling Med Mart. You will speak with one of our stair lift experts who will schedule you for a FREE in-home estimate. After your estimate, you’ll be able to schedule your installation, often within the same week!

The Benefits of Stair Lifts

Stairlift FAQ: Cincinnati & Dayton Homeowner Guide

Answers to the most common questions Cincinnati and Dayton families ask about stairlifts — cost, insurance, installation, and choosing the right lift for your home.

Most straight stairlifts cost between $1995 (starting price for pre-owned or used stairlift) and $4,500 installed, while curved stairlifts — custom-built to match bends, turns, or landings — typically run $8,000 to $13,000 or more depending on the complexity of the staircase. Med Mart provides free in-home assessments for Cincinnati and Dayton homeowners, this allows you to get an exact quote based on your staircase, not a generic online estimate.

We also rent stairlifts in the Tri-state area, including Cincinnati, Dayton and Northern Kentucky. Stairlift rentals are $1350 for 6 months of rental, and $250 for installation/removal.  The 7th month is free and you can apply all rental payments toward the purchase if you choose to keep it.

Outdoor stairlift pricing is around $3,500-5000 installed.

Heavy duty and bariatric stairlifts that go up to 600lb weight capacity range $3,500-5000

A straight stairlift runs on a single straight rail and fits staircases with no turns, bends, or landings. A curved stairlift uses a custom-fabricated rail designed around the specific turns and landings of your staircase. Straight lifts are typically in-stock and can be installed quickly; curved lifts require precise measurements and a manufacturing lead time before installation. We have a sophisticated photo camera system that ties to a tablet for precise measurements of your staircase.

No. Original Medicare (Parts A and B) classifies stairlifts as a home modification rather than durable medical equipment, so it does not cover the cost. Some Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans offer limited home accessibility benefits — it’s worth calling your plan provider to ask. Med Mart can also walk you through financing and payment plan options if Medicare coverage isn’t available.  If your doctor thinks you qualify or would benefit from a stairlift, they can write a prescription which will waive the sales tax.

In some cases, yes. Medicaid coverage for stairlifts varies by state and is most commonly available through Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waiver programs, which help seniors avoid moving into a nursing facility. Ohio residents should check with their local Area Agency on Aging or Medicaid waiver program to see what’s available in Hamilton, Montgomery, or surrounding counties.

Yes. The VA’s Home Improvements and Structural Alterations (HISA) grant can help cover medically necessary home modifications, including stairlifts, for eligible veterans. Veterans Directed Home and Community Based Services (VD-HCBS) programs may also provide assistance. Med Mart works with veterans throughout the Cincinnati and Dayton area and can help you understand what documentation is needed.

A straight stairlift can usually be installed in a few hours, and can be scheduled promptly if the unit is in stock. A curved stairlift requires a custom rail built to your staircase’s exact measurements, so installation is typically scheduled two to four weeks after your in-home assessment, with the on-site install itself completed in a single day.  We can install a stairlift quicker than anyone in our area.

Yes, and it is always free. A technician measures your staircase, checks weight capacity needs, assesses landings or turns, and confirms there’s a nearby power outlet. This ensures the stairlift you order fits correctly the first time. Med Mart provides free, no-obligation in-home assessments throughout Cincinnati, Dayton, and the surrounding Ohio area.

Most staircases can accommodate a stairlift, including narrow stairs, outdoor stairs, and stairs with multiple turns or landings. The main exceptions are extremely narrow stairwells or unusual structural conditions, which is why an in-home assessment is the best way to confirm what will work in your home.

Standard residential stairlifts typically support 300 to 350 pounds, while heavy-duty models are available that support up to 600 pounds. Med Mart installs Harmar, Handicare, and Savaria manufactured stairlifts. They all offer both standard and heavy-duty weight capacity options depending on the user’s needs.

Yes. Modern stairlifts include seatbelts, swivel seats for safe entry and exit at the top of the stairs, sensors that stop the lift if an obstruction is detected, and battery backup so the lift still works during a power outage. These safety features are specifically designed for users with balance, mobility, or fall-risk concerns.

Stairlifts run on rechargeable batteries that continuously charge from the home’s electrical outlet, so the lift will still operate during a power outage as long as the battery has charge. This is a standard safety feature on modern stairlift models, including Harmar and Handicare units.

Yes, renting is a common option for short-term needs, such as recovering from surgery or a temporary mobility limitation, and typically costs less upfront than purchasing. Ask about rental and rent-to-own programs when you schedule your in-home assessment, since not every dealer offers the same terms.

A stairlift is a motorized seat that travels along a rail mounted to your staircase, carrying you between floors. A lift chair is a reclining chair with a lifting mechanism that gently raises a seated person to a standing position — it doesn’t move along stairs at all. Both are common solutions for maintaining independence at home, and Med Mart carries both.

Professional installation is strongly recommended and is required to maintain most manufacturer warranties. Stairlifts must be precisely secured to the stair treads or stringer, properly aligned, and safety-tested before use — improper installation creates a fall risk. Med Mart’s installers are factory-trained on the Harmar, Golden Technologies, and Pride Mobility products we sell.

A stairlift is typically the more affordable and faster solution for a single staircase and is sufficient for most homeowners with mobility concerns. A home elevator may be worth considering for multi-story homes, wheelchair users who can’t transfer to a stairlift seat, or homeowners planning extensive accessibility renovations. A Med Mart specialist can help you compare options based on your home and needs.

Med Mart sells and installs stairlifts from Harmar, Handicare and Savaria. Our show room is stocked with lift chairs, mobility scooters, hospital beds, and patient lift from Golden Technologies, and Pride Mobility. As Cincinnati and Dayton’s #1 stairlift installer, Med Mart has showrooms across Ohio where you can see and try stairlift models in person before buying.

Yes. Med Mart offers financing and payment plan options to help spread the cost of a stairlift into manageable monthly payments, in addition to helping customers explore VA benefits, Medicaid waivers, and other funding sources they may qualify for.

Contact Med Mart to schedule a free, no-obligation in-home assessment. A specialist will evaluate your staircase, recommend the right stairlift model and weight capacity for your needs, and provide an exact quote — with installation often completed within days for straight staircases.
